Levels and Levels

A reformed Cubey rises over a world of new possibility.

Come try it out! If you participated in one of our transfer events, you'll spawn in with your old inventory and stats. ...But, before you dive in, let's get into the changes. This is our largest update yet; unless you played on the beta, you may be missing out on some important information!

We kept our old Survival world from versions 1.14 all the way through 1.16, and it gave us nearly 2 years of enjoyment! Ultimately, our decision to retire it came following Mojang's intensive world generation changes. Now with the hard part out of the way, we plan on keeping this world through many more versions. Think of this as an LTS (long-term survival) update. This means that we'll be starting the world off small (5k×5k), and increasing the border incrementally with each major update.

If you haven't played on our old Survival server, our new world spawn may come as a surprise to you! We have a new, fully-built, protected spawn region now. There's a lot to see and explore in it, so I won't spoil much. But, if you're worried about losing the community aspect of our last two spawns, don't be. We have new community-run markets—right at spawn—that'll keep things lively and replace the old, laggy, mall of yore.

Another problem of our old Survival server was the economy. Even following our first economy update, balances were hyper inflated and everything was too obtainable; It only took a few weeks of playtime to obtain some of the rarest riches, and there wasn't much challenge to the gameplay. We've learned a lot since then, so this time around we've fully rebalanced our economy: Jobs now have a dedicated ranking system with balanced scaling for those working multiple jobs, new quests, a /voteshop that lets you turn points into specific rewards, better crate rewards, and a new-and-improved shop plugin (thanks PlumpFeline!).

Ultimately, money (now called gems) has a lot more use and value than before. However, aside from claims, it becomes most useful for our new level system. Levels allow players to obtain new features (some of which were previously only for ranks) for free, in exchange for gems. Your level displays in chat, and each 5th level will change your title (displayed next to your rank). When you first join, you'll be "Dull", but you'll be able to upgrade that after just an hour. Aside from the first level the whole system can be ignored if it's not your style. Still, I'd suggest exploring it, as it's the gateway to some exciting new features.

With mention of our level system, the last major feature of note is our new Paragon world. This world, when released, will be a fully custom dimension featuring biomes added based on community feedback. The world is tailor-made for builders, with dramatic scenery and not a monster in sight. In order to build in Paragon, you'll need to be at least level 25, but you can still visit Paragon at any level. Paragon is still in development so that we can gather your biome suggestions: If you have ideas, let us know on Discord!

That's everything major!
