1.16 Update Incoming!
Hey, everyone. Lately, we've received reports of strange happenings on the server... Strange noises have been heard resonating deep below the surface. Brave souls who've ventured into the depths have returned with stories of decrepit fortresses, strange lifeforms, and never-before-seen materials. If you dare to explore beneath the surface, bring your best gear, and travel with care.
That's right! It's almost time for the Nether update! So, without further ado, let's discuss! As with any significant update, there's a lot to cover, so be sure to read this announcement in-full.
First, let's go over the most essential aspect of this update: The Nether! A month ago, we asked everyone what the fate of the current Nether world should be, and, impressively, 100% of you voted to create a fresh Nether. As mentioned in that poll, the current Nether will be deleted, while a freshly-made Nether takes its place. So, if you have any important bases or items in the current Nether (no matter where in the world it is), now's the time to salvage your items. Following the update, they'll be inaccessible.
The update itself is scheduled to take place on the morning of the 28th of this month (Tuesday). Nothing has changed on the server yet, but we wrote this announcement to give everyone a chance to prepare for the change.
Though everything has been thoroughly tested and is ready to go. As with any large update, a couple sneaky bugs can have crept in while our backs were turned. In the unlikely event that anything does break, you'll be prepared by following these steps!
PROTECT YOUR ITEMS!
- If you have important items stored in your ender chest, slab shop, or /backpack, move them out and into a chest! Plugins are more likely to break between updates than vanilla features.
- If you have important items stored in item-frames or on armor stands, move them into a chest.
- If you can, hide your most important chests away from your base or other player-built structures and save the coords! You may also set a home, but make sure you have the coords written down regardless.
- If you can, keep your important/hidden chests unlocked until after the update.
- Last, but perhaps the most important step, take screenshots of all your items and chest contents! If anything does happen, regardless of the steps you've taken here, having screenshots will allow us to restore your items much quicker than without.
Lastly, aside from the world-changing update-to-come, a few smaller changes have been made during this update. As this message is growing rather large, I will instead post the minor changes in the updates channel in our Discord (join using the sidebar!). I hope everyone is looking forward to this update.
