Welcome to the Shopping District!
The major promise of Mayor Gallaxx's campaign was to bring about the opening of the much-anticipated Shopping District. That goal has finally been realized! Let's get into it.
The Shopping District is a new region of Spawnia that contains a total of 87 custom-made shops that players can "rent" and sell their goods within. Ultimately, this new region will become the go-to place for all players looking to trade.
Since we've already wrote a full-fledged article on this subject, we'll cut the spiel short for this announcement. If you'd like to read more about Spawnia's newest region, you can do so via the link(s) below.
Shop rules and info
What's the point of a shopping district without any shops? We're just as eager as all of you to get people set up within their shops so that they can start trading. That said, Staff will be dealing with a lot of shop requests and questions as everyone tries to claim their preferred shop. So that everyone is on the same page, make sure to read this section carefully!
Make sure you meet the requirements! Shops are free, but only available to players who are /level 5 or higher. There are no market taxes this season.
Players are only allowed one shop. However, you may request another user get build-permissions within your shop. There are no restrictions regarding what can be sold within your shop, nor how many shops can be contained within.
Shops must be kept active. Spawnia is a busy place and shop space is limited. Shops that are inactive, are misused, or have a majority of out-of-stock items will be irrecoverably removed.
Shop interiors may be customized 100% to your liking. Remodel them: make it yours! (Exteriors cannot be modified.)
Once you are given a shop, you will be rewarded a free PlayerWarp to place within it so that others can visit you. This PlayerWarp will expire if you are offline for 60 days. We recommend setting this PlayerWarp as soon as possible so others know you're in business.
All shops have a unique address corresponding to the street they are on. These addresses are a letter (A-F) followed by a number. All shop addresses can be found by the shop's entrance door. Some shop buildings contain multiple shops; pay attention!
By default, all unclaimed shops will have blacked-out windows (the lights are off!) and cannot be entered. Once a shop is claimed, you will be able to see inside of the shop and enter it. (Note that the interiors as seen through shop windows are only facades and are not indicative of what is sold within.)
Shop interiors are not physically located at the Shopping District. This is a lag-prevention measure; your neighbors won't lag out your customers!
Claiming a shop
Whew! That was a lot. With that out of the way, let's get into how to actually claim a shop:
- Find a couple of shops that interests you. In general, if you are unable to see into a shop, it is unclaimed. All shops are bigger on the inside, don't let the exterior of a shop dissuade you!
- Create a General Ticket ticket via general-support. Tell us the address of the shop you're most interested in, followed by any other shops that interest you should your first choice be unavailable. If you do not have a Discord account, you may request a shop here. Be advised that response times outside of Discord are slower.
- Wait! We're likely dealing with a lot of requests and won't be able to respond immediately. Be patient, and we'll help you when we can.
A better /bio
An achievement not to be overshadowed by the Shopping District, Mayor Gallaxx's promise brought about a much-improved bio built around your suggestions as a community!
Not only were additional bio options added, players can now select multiple aspects of their identity from the menu! That's two minor promises in one!
That's not even all! We've taken your feedback requests for better methods of searching for other users' bios. Now, players have access to the /viewbio <name> command to directly view another player's bio outside of chat. Since we've already wrote an article about the new bio system, we won't go too in-depth here. If you want to learn more about the new system, click the link below!
And one more thing...
Starting tomorrow, we'll begin accepting campaign applications for the next round of elections on Prism Party. We've had a ton of fun working with Mayor Gallaxx to fulfill their mayoral promises, and we hope you all enjoy the hard work we all put into making it a reality!
If you're interested in running for Mayor and having your ideas added to the server, you can read more about server elections here. There will be another announcement once campaign applications are opened, but we'd love to encourage as many players to run for office as possible! It's a ton of fun, and lets you leave a mark on the server.
See you all online! If you have any questions about server elections, the Shopping District, or anything else mentioned in this announcement, let us know in server-chat!
With love, Prism Party.
